Liverpool women's star Mia Enderby was rushed to hospital after suffering what looked to be a serious injury during her side's clash with Tottenham Hotspur this afternoon.

The forward appeared to land on her neck after competing for a header with just 10 minutes of the match to go at Leyton Orient's Brisbane Road.

She stayed down for some 15 minutes before leaving the pitch on a stretcher and being taken to hospital in an ambulance for further checks.

While it's not yet clear exactly what injury Enderby suffered, Liverpool boss Gareth Taylor expressed his concern post-match.

'It's obviously not nice to see her stretchered off. I haven't had the chance to speak to Mia,' he said.

'I think she has gone to hospital in an ambulance. At one point I thought she was going to re-enter in terms of get back up and start playing again but those types of injuries are really crucial that we take care of them.'

Enderby joins Marie Hobinger and Sophie Roman Haug on Liverpool's injury list.

Her side ultimately went on to lose the match in east London in another blow after a difficult start to the season.

Liverpool took the lead early on through Beata Olsson, who latched onto a loose ball at the back to net her first goal for the Merseyside club despite some appeals for offside.

It however didn't take long for the hosts to level the scoring, with Toko Koga tapping in a cross from close range.

Spurs skipper Bethany England later secured her side all three points with an impressive finish laced into the top corner.

The defeat leaves Liverpool second bottom of the Women's Super League after failing to win a single one of their opening six games this season.

Tottenham meanwhile went up to fourth, just four points adrift of league leaders Man City.
