TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Lombok-Bali crossing will be closed during the Day of Silence, or Nyepi, according to West Nusa Tenggara Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal.
"On March 18, 2026, the crossing from Lombok will be closed from 09:00 a.m. local time and reopened on March 20, 2026 at 04:00 a.m. local time," said Iqbal while reviewing annual Eid homecoming traffic at Lembar Port, West Lombok, on Sunday, March 15, 2026, as quoted from Antara.
The decision was based on the joint decree implemented by the Bali government as the Nyepi and Eid holidays coincide this year.
The policy aims to maintain an orderly crossing between Lombok and Bali and ensure a solemn observation of Nyepi.
The policy is also intended as an anticipatory measure to manage resident mobility ahead of the Eid homecoming exodus. "Crossing activities from Bali will be closed on March 19, 2026," said Iqbal.
While reviewing the homecoming flow at Lembar Port area, West Lombok Regency, Governor Iqbal stated that the crossing to and from Lombok remains under control despite the surge in the number of arrivals.
Meanwhile, arrivals of goods, vehicles, and people are up by around 20 percent in the Lembar Port area. "The most noticeable increase is in two-wheeled vehicles and private vehicles coming from outside the region," said Iqbal.
The majority of the homecoming traffic heading to Lombok comes from Padangbai Port in Karangasem Regency, Bali. Meanwhile, the outbound flow of exodus from Lombok is expected to increase after the Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
The West Nusa Tenggara government, together with relevant authorities, continues to monitor the port's condition to ensure that crossing services continue to run safely, orderly, and smoothly during the long Nyepi and Eid holiday season.
