LSU basketball star Flau'Jae Johnson ignited a wave of criticism by questioning Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry's calls to build a memorial for Charlie Kirk on the Baton Rouge campus and referring to the slain conservative activist's views as 'racist.'

'I'm calling on @LSU to honor the legacy of Charlie Kirk by putting up a statue of him on campus,' Landry posted on X alongside an accompanying video. 'There is no better warrior for free speech than Charlie Kirk, and we must continue his legacy on every campus in America.'

A conservative advocate for free speech, Kirk was shot and killed during a recent speech in Utah. Since then, he has been posthumously honored by everyone from sports teams to President Donald Trump and, if Landry gets his way, LSU.

Although he didn't attend the school, instead going to nearby Louisiana in Lafayette, Landry challenged LSU's Board of Supervisoers top 'find a place to put a statue of Charlie Kirk to defend the freedom of speech on college campuses.'

Johnson responded online by simply writing: '????'

And with that, a torrent of criticism was directed at Johnson, not that she seemed to mind all that much.

'You lost a fan tonight with all this race baiting bulls***,' one LSU supporter wrote on X. 'Just when I think I find a real one, she's a race baiter like the rest of em. All yall do is divide. You just like all the other sistas.'

Unbothered, Johnson responded: 'bye.'

Podcaster and 'follower of Jesus' Alex Stone responded by writing: 'Stupidity is rampant in this country.'

Another person appeared to agree with her: 'I'm a Kirk fan, but this would be stupid. Landry needs to stay out of LSU business.'

Yet Johnson made it clear, she doesn't want any followers who supported Kirk.

'For the sake of clarity, if you align yourself with or endorse his racist rhetoric and discriminatory views toward people of color, I respectfully ask that you utilize the unfollow option at the top right of my profile,' she wrote.

Johnson was referred to by one critic as a 'another black racist that hates white people,' but many others supported her remark.

'He just hid behind the 'free speech' moniker to be hateful and awful towards his fellow human beings,' one person wrote of Kirk.

'LSU is never winning another SEC championship in anything ever again if they do this,' another wrote of the possibility of a Kirk statue.

Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry was called 'corny' by one LSU fan for his Kirk statue proposal

Many others simply attacked Landry: 'Governor corny as hell for that.'

'Jeffery lay off da,' another wrote alongside a photo of the popular fortified wine, MD 20/20.

Like Kirk, Johnson's father was the victim of gun violence. A rap musician who performed under the name Camouflage, the late Jason Johnson was gunned down in Savannah six months before she was born in 2003.

These days, the younger Johnson is also a recording artist who has three albums to her name.

LSU has not issued any statement on Landry's calls to build a monument to Kirk, but several of Johnson's classmates are speaking out against the idea.

'I don't think that's very smart, think it's going to be vandalized,' LSU student Destiny Connolly. Told WBRZ.com. 'He also never came here, so I don't know what the point of that will be.'

Most of the current statues on the LSU campus are built to honor athletes, such as basketball legends Pete Maravich, Bob Pettit and Shaquille O'Neal.
