LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier got emotional on Saturday as his team lost to Vanderbilt - and fans let him have it online.
Nussmeier played a clean game for the Tigers as he tossed for 225 yards and two touchdowns, but it wasn't enough to stop their SEC rivals as Vanderbilt won 31-24.
The fifth-year passer was then spotted seemingly crying on the sideline with a towel covering his face - which some fans harshly ripped him for.
'too old for that s***' one said.
'Soft ass b***h,' another added.
'Fraud,' a third claimed.
Garrett Nussmeier was seen crying following LSU's loss to Vanderbilt on Saturday
He previously discussed his desire to win a national championship at the school
But the Tigers' Playoff hopes are in jeopardy following their second loss of the season
And a fourth referenced former USC and current Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, saying: 'When Caleb did this it was a problem'
The loss was LSU's second of the season, bringing them to a 5-2 record and putting their College Football Playoff hopes in jeopardy.
Nussmeier returned for a fifth year at LSU after having a career season in 2024, in which he passed for 4,052 yards and 29 touchdowns.
'God brought me to LSU for a reason. I always wanted to win a national championship here,' he previously told SEC Network of his decision to come back.
'It wasn't about winning a Heisman or being the first overall pick. It was just about winning championships, so having that opportunity, I just couldn't pass it up.'
But following his emotional display on Saturday, some fans felt that he was being let down by his teammates.
'Deserves so much better. Nussmeier has been playing hurt. He’s lowered his draft stock. He came back to win at LSU. And his teammates don’t seem to care,' one wrote.
LSU and Nussmeier will look to get back on track next weekend when they travel to College Station for another tough matchup against Texas A&M.
