Luke Littler may be used to winning the biggest prizes in darts but he had been struggling to get over the line when it comes to a key area of his life away from the oche.

The 18-year-old star had failed six driving theory tests but on Friday shared the news with his 1.9 million Instagram followers that he has finally passed.

Littler posted a picture of his pass certificate with the caption 'we will have a look, of course we will have a look', accompanied by three dancing emojis.

The darts sensation passed the multiple choice section of the theory test by achieving the minimum score - 43 out of 50 - but breezed through the hazard perception, earning 63 out of 75.

Littler must now complete the practical side of the test within two years, as per Driving and Vehicle Licensing Standards Agency rules.

The reigning world champion had been open on social media about his struggles in learning how to drive. In July, he revealed he had failed at the fifth time of asking.

He then said recently that his sixth attempt was a 'bad one'.

When asked about how he was getting on with his driving earlier this week, Littler said: 'No, not yet. I did do a theory the other week but I didn't put it on my Instagram.

'Oh, it was a bad one. It was a bad one. I'll let you know that.'

But his result on Friday paves the way for him to get his dream car - provided he has no such problems with the practical side of the driving test.

Shortly after becoming the youngest world champion of all time, Littler opened up on his love for the Mercedes A-Class, which start at around £28,000.

'Last year I was looking at driving and I loved the Ford Focus, but now I've gone up in the world just a little,' he told reporters. 'I've always loved a Mercedes A-Class. Just a small car.'

Littler, the youngest player to win the Triple Crown in darts, has racked up earnings of more than £1.5million since bursting onto the scene and stunning the world by reaching the World Championship final on debut.

He is due to be in action at the Hungarian Darts Trophy in Budapest this weekend.

Littler this week caused a stir on social media this week when he posted a video announcing his 'retirement'. It in fact turned out to be a spoof and a promotion for EA Sports FC26, due for release on September 26.
