TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Malaysian government has lowered the price of RON 95 fuel from RM2.05 to RM1.99 per liter. The new price will take effect on September 30, 2025.
On Monday, September 22, 2025, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim, announced this decision in a statement received in Kuala Lumpur.
"Starting on September 30, all Malaysian citizens will enjoy the new price of RON 95, which is RM1.99 per liter, by using MyKad (Malaysian identity card), at gas stations or through the gas station application," Anwar said, as quoted from Antara.
Assuming the exchange rate of Rp3,952 per RM, it means that the price of RON 95 fuel in Malaysia has decreased from RM2.05 or Rp8,101 per liter to RM1.99 or Rp7,864 per liter.
Prime Minister Anwar explained that this policy will be available earlier for members of the Malaysian police and army starting from September 27, 2025. Meanwhile, recipients of direct cash assistance will be able to access the new fuel price starting on September 28, 2025.
Anwar stated that Malaysia took a bold step to lower the price of RON 95 to RM1.99 per liter at a time when the world is facing uncertain global economic situations. He mentioned the policy as the highest form of appreciation for all Malaysian citizens who work diligently and strive together with the MADANI (civilised) government to improve the country's economic growth.
"Our current success is the result of the strength of the people who never give up," said Anwar.
