Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Harry Maguire will miss Manchester United’s trip to Crystal Palace on Sunday, head coach Ruben Amorim has confirmed.

Sesko and Maguire were injured in the draw against Tottenham a fortnight ago, while Cunha also missed Monday’s defeat at home to Everton after sustaining a knock in training.

Amorim was asked if Sesko – who was initially ruled out until mid-December – and Cunha will be back next week, and replied: ‘No, Sesko is going to take a little bit more time, Harry the same. I expect to have Matheus in the next one (Wolves), not this one.’

Pressed if Sesko has suffered a setback in his recovery, he added: ‘No, it's going to take a little bit longer. We are taking care of the injury.’

United sources also stressed on Friday that there has been no setback in the player’s recovery, and he is on target for his initial return date in around two weeks.

Amorim expressed his frustration that United stumbled to a 1-0 defeat at home to 10-man Everton after drawing their previous two games against Nottingham Forest and Tottenham.

Striker Benjamin Sesko has also failed to recover in time after his recent injury

Harry Maguire remains on the sidelines with Ruben Amorim indicating it will be a few weeks until the defender is back in contention for selection

‘I think if I look at the games we should have more points,’ he said. ‘Because we had control of some games, we had the advantage in some games, and we lost that control. So if I look at our games, we should have more points.

‘This week was really tough, as it should be. This defeat was really hard, but the process needs to continue and we need to go to the next game. Especially in this league, this year, everything can change really fast. That is really disappointing and really frustrating, especially the last game.

‘I think if you look at the game, I think we can play better. We could be better in the game. With everything that happened in that game, we should have won. So we have to feel that urgency of winning games.

‘We know what happens around the club if we don't win games. So if we know that, let's do everything in the right way. But again, we lost that one. We cannot change that. Let's focus on the next one.’
