TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Minister of Manpower (Menaker), Yassierli, responded to the viral hashtag #KaburAjaDulu on social media. He said that the hashtag is a form of public aspiration. According to Yassierli, this poses a challenge for the government.
"This is a challenge for us if it is indeed related to their aspirations. Come on, the government should create better jobs, that's our note and concern," said Yassierli at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Monday, February 17, 2025.
Indeed, Yassierli said, there are many opportunities to work abroad. However, he believes that the purpose of going abroad is to improve one's skills.
"Then, coming back to Indonesia to build the country is not a problem," said Yassierli.
Recently, social media has been filled with the hashtag #KaburAjaDulu which encourages working abroad. This phenomenon represents the disappointment of young people who see the high cost of education in Indonesia and the lack of job opportunities. One of the issues that triggered the campaign's popularity was the massive budget efficiency policy by President Prabowo Subianto.
