TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Haj and Umrah Mochamad Irfan Yusuf has confirmed that the 2026 Haj pilgrimage to the Holy Land remains on track, despite geopolitical tensions between the United States and Iran.
"So far, it is still on schedule. We hope there will be no changes leading up to the departure on April 22," he stated after attending the 2026 Haj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) working visit in Surabaya, East Java, on Tuesday.
He explained that there have been no disruptions to the preparations or the departure timeline for Indonesian pilgrims. Every facet of the required services, from accommodation to transportation, has been thoroughly prepared.
He noted that funding is also ready to be deployed as needed to support the operation.
He stated that direct flights to Saudi Arabia remain available and have not been impacted by the evolving geopolitical situation.
"We see no flight suspensions. Direct flights to Saudi Arabia are still operating. We hope the situation remains safe," he remarked.
The Indonesian government is also maintaining intensive communication with the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Haj to monitor the latest developments.
"We are in constant communication with the Saudi Ministry of Haj team, and as of today, they have stated that there are no changes to the schedule," he said.
Furthermore, he noted, the quota for elderly pilgrims remains in accordance with applicable regulations, set at five percent of the total Haj allocation.
He also ensured that the Umrah pilgrimage would continue to operate safely, with strict monitoring of the return of pilgrims. He has gathered organizers to ensure the safe homecoming of those currently departing.
The government hopes the situation remains conducive so that all stages of the 2026 Haj pilgrimage can proceed smoothly.
