Minnesota Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy and his fiancee Katya have announced the birth of their son, Rome.
She posted on Friday afternoon: 'Welcome to the world Rome Micah McCarthy. The sweetest, most perfect gift from God!! We are so unbelievably blessed to be your parents'.
McCarthy responded in the comments by saying: '& so are you my love. God is GREAT!'
Katya's post included four photos from inside hospital with one showing McCarthy staring adoringly at his son while he held him in his arms.
The couple announced back in May that they were expecting a baby boy and it became clear the birth was imminent when the quarterback skipped practice on Thursday.
The couple have been together dating back to their high school days more than five years ago, and have been engaged since January 2024.

It continues a perfect week McCarthy after he pulled off an impressive fourth quarter comeback to lead the Vikings to a 27-24 win at the Chicago Bears on Monday.
Minnesota hadn't scored a touchdown through three quarters, and trailed 17-6 after McCarthy threw a pick-six to Chicago's Nahshon Wright.
But McCarthy and the Vikings offense came alive in the final quarter, as he led three touchdown drives to stun the crowd at Soldier Field.
The former University of Michigan star ultimately finished the game with 143 yards passing and three total touchdowns (one rushing).
Katya took to Instagram afterwards to praise her longtime partner.
Re-sharing a Vikings graphic that commemorated McCarthy's first NFL win, Kuropas wrote on her Instagram story: 'What a night!!' So proud of you. Keep showin em.'
McCarthy, who missed the entirety of his rookie season last year with a torn meniscus, spoke after the game about the 'long journey' to his first NFL start.
'I think it's been 609 days, I think I saw, since my last competitive football game [at Michigan], which was the national championship. So, it's been a while of being just in the training room, watching a lot of film, learning the playbook and trying to master that.
'At the end of the day, it's such a blessing to be an NFL football player and play in this league.'
The Vikings will look to move to 2-0 this weekend when they host the Falcons.
