Mohamed Salah has called for departing Liverpool players to be shown respect as the club talisman took aim a post shared by a major fan account.
Liverpool fan platform Anfield Edition, which has over 500,000 follows on X, lauded in the club's summer transfer business in a post on Tuesday,
The account focused on the big-money summer signings of Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz, who joined the club for £125m and £116m respectively.
In praising the transfers, the account shared the message 'Name a bigger upgrade in footballing history', with the new signings compared to departing stars Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez.
Diaz left Liverpool in a £65.5m move to Bayern Munich, while Nunez's underwhelming spell at the club came to an end when he joined Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal for £53m.
Salah came to the defence of his former team-mates, with the Liverpool star highlighting their contribution to Liverpool's title success last season.
'How about we celebrate the great signings without disrespecting the PL champions?' Salah wrote.
