TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Striker Mohamed Salah has announced that he will leave Premier League club Liverpool at the end of this season, or in June 2026.
As reported on the club's official website on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, Salah has reached an agreement with Liverpool not to extend his nine-year partnership.
Salah expressed his desire to make this announcement to the supporters as soon as possible to provide transparency about his future as a show of respect and gratitude to them.
Salah remains fully focused on achieving the best possible results for Liverpool at the end of this season, and therefore, the time to fully celebrate his legacy and achievements will come at the end of the year when he bids farewell to Anfield.
Salah also announced his decision to leave Liverpool via a post on his personal Instagram account @mosalah on Tuesday evening local time.
"I want to start by saying that I never imagined this club, this city, these people would be a part of my life," Salah said.
"Liverpool isn't just a football club; it's a passion, it's a history, it's a spirit. I can't explain it to anyone who isn't part of this club," he continued.
The Egyptian player stated that he had won various important titles with Liverpool and expressed his gratitude to everyone who worked with him at the club.
Salah expressed his gratitude especially to his teammates, past and present, and the Liverpool supporters, noting that words cannot express his gratitude for his time with the Reds.
"Farewells are never easy. You have given me the best time of my life. I will always be a part of you!" Salah explained.
"This club will always be my home, for me and my family. Thank you to everyone. Because of you, I will never walk alone," he concluded.
Since joining Liverpool from AS Roma in the summer of 2017, the 33-year-old has made 435 appearances in various competitions, scoring 255 goals.
He has also won two Premier League titles, one Champions League, one Club World Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, the FA Cup, two League Cups, and the Community Shield with Liverpool.
