TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Survey shows that 47 percent of United States (U.S.) citizens dismiss President Donald Trump's plan to take over Gaza Strip and consider it as a 'bad idea'.

The survey conducted by CBS and YouGov, as reported by Anadolu, took place from February 5 to Ferbuary 7, 2025, and was published on Sunday, February 9.

The poll also shows that only 13 percent of the 2,175 respondents view Trump's plan as a 'good idea', while 40 percent are uncertain.

The survey also reveals that 34 percent of the respondents have little or no knowledge about the proposal to forcibly expel all Palestinian residents from Gaza. The area has been almost entirely destroyed by Israeli genocide since October 7, 2023, resulting in the deaths of nearly 48,200 people, the majority of whom are women and children.

However, the majority of the respondents (54 percent) stated that they agree with how Trump is managing the Israel-Palestine conflict, while 46 percent disagree.

Among those surveyed, 70 percent respondents believe that Trump has fulfilled his promises during his campaign, and 53 percent claim to be satisfied with his performance.

On February 4, Trump declared that the U.S. would take over the Gaza Strip, a Palestinian territory devastated by Israeli military aggression since October 2023.

He also proposed for the Palestinian residents there to be expelled to other countries in order to transform the area into the 'Riviera of the Middle East', or a beautiful coastal area in the Middle East. This proposal was faced with widespread condemnation from Palestine, Arab countries, and many other nations worldwide, including Canada, France, Germany, and United Kingdom.

Regarding Trump's objective in proposing the Gaza plan, 22 percent agree for the U.S. to take over Gaza, 28 percent call for negotiations with Middle Eastern countries, and 29 percent hope for both.
