TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is hit by an unpleasant issue. Israeli media, Times of Israel, reported that Netanyahu's son, Yair, is living lavishly in a skyscraper near Miami, United States. Yair Netanyahu's lifestyle has become a center of attention amid the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.

In the photos and videos published by DailyMail.com, Yair Netanyahu is seen on the balcony of a luxurious condominium in Hallandale Beach. He is sipping tea and wearing only underwear. Yair appears to be talking on the phone and relaxing with his friends, one of whom is seen wearing a virtual reality headset.

The apartment in the building, located next to a golf course and about a 15-minute walk from the beach, costs between US$ 4,200 and US$ 17,000 per month. According to Daily Mail, the unit occupied by Yair Netanyahu costs US$ 5,000 per month. It is unclear who is paying the bills.

The complex features a tennis court, spa, game room, private cinema, wine cellar, and cigar room.

The report is the latest account depicting the lavish lifestyle of Yair Netanyahu's family while squeezing taxpayers for everything. PM Benjamin Netanyahu previously faced trial on corruption charges. He was accused of receiving expensive gifts such as champagne and jewelry from wealthy friends for his wife, Sara.

Yair is accused of living a pampered life spending most of his time on social media attacking his father's critics, resulting in condemnation and legal troubles. According to the report, Yair cannot work in the US as he is using a tourist visa.

Yair Netanyahu is known for his far-right views and aggressive presence on social media. His posts have led him to court several times. His public notoriety has increased amid reports that he has influenced his father's policies. He has been sued several times and ordered to pay hundreds of thousands of shekels in compensation.

Shortly after the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, Yair Netanyahu shared posts blaming the security services for the failure that led to the attack. One of his posts claimed that IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi was aware of the attack plans but did not inform PM Netanyahu. He accused Halevi of staging a military coup.

Yair spent most of his time in 2023 in the United States. Before October 7, 2023, he hoped to obtain a Green Card, according to Hebrew media reports. After the attack, he stayed in the US. However, amid criticism, he eventually flew back to Israel to volunteer for the United Hatzala organization.

In mid-January, he returned to the US and stayed in a condominium in Miami.

A spokesperson for the Netanyahu family, who refused to disclose their name, denied Yair's lavish lifestyle. "Clearly, this article aims to attack their family, which is political propaganda aimed at smearing the right-wing Prime Minister of Israel during the wartime," the spokesperson said.

He also praised Netanyahu's son. "Yair has spent his life defending Israel on the international stage, including in interviews, speeches, and social media," the spokesperson added.
