TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The United States' National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and Netflix are set to partner for the streaming of live space exploration through NASA+. Netflix viewers will be able to witness rocket launches, astronauts in space, mission coverage, and live views of Earth from the International Space Station (ISS).
"The National Aeronautics and Space Act of 1958 calls for us to share our space exploration stories with the widest audience possible," said NASA+ General Manager Rebecca Sirmons in a written statement quoted from NASA's website on Monday, June 30, 2025.
Sirmons promised that the NASA+ program will be available on Netflix in the summer, possibly in the third quarter of 2025. With this partnership, NASA's activities in the field of science and exploration will become more accessible to the public. This new program is expected to inspire the global public in the modern media landscape, especially as Netflix has already reached more than 700 million viewers worldwide.
The goal of this partnership, Sirmons continued, is to bring excitement about NASA's space exploration discoveries, innovations, and explorations to everyone. She ensured that NASA+ content will remain available for free, without ads, through the NASA app and website.
"We are committed in this golden age of innovation and exploration to inspire the next generation directly from their couches (while watching TV), or in the palm of their hands, from their phones," she said.
Earlier, Netflix announced that NASA+ will be available on the main page, precisely next to the menu of favorite series. The ISS footage, rocket launches, mission coverage, will be broadcasted in HD quality.
