It's take two for Tyrod Taylor, with Justin Fields demoted as the New York Jets quarterback for the second time this season.

Head coach Aaron Glenn informed both players of the move on Monday morning, which ESPN reported first. The Jets face the Baltimore Ravens this weekend on the road.

Glenn tried to swap Fields for Taylor earlier this season and it backfired dramatically.

Taylor, 36, ended up hurting his knee in practice after being told that he was No 1, so Fields came back in as the starter and led the Jets to their first win of the season by beating the Cincinnati Bengals.

After a bye week, Fields won another game when the Jets beat the Browns at MetLife Stadium but last Thursday, it was a dire display in the 27-14 loss to New England Patriots.

And it appears that has prompted Glenn to try again with Taylor, somone he has spoken of highly before in the season.

Quarterback Justin Fields has been benched by the New York Jets in favor of Tyrod Taylor

Taylor will now lead the Jets into Sunday's tough game on the road to Baltimore Ravens

When Taylor came in to replace a concussed Field for the Week 3 game against Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Glenn said: 'There's no better player that you'd want as your backup quarterback than him at this point in time.'

But now, Glenn evidently thinks Taylor is the best option to start.

Taylor nearly led the Jets to their first win that day against the Bucs but Glenn's team threw victory away with seconds left on the clock.

Will McDonald seemed to have clinched a New York win when he blocked a 43-yard field goal attempted and returned it 50 yards to put the Jets 27-26 up with 1:49 on the clock.

Glenn celebrated wildly before being left embarrassed as the Bucs forced their way up the other end for Chase McLaughlin to convert a 36-yard field goal for a 29-27 win.

Taylor finished that day by completing 26 passes out of 36 for 197 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.

The Jets are 2-8 after Thursday's loss to the Patriots, their AFC East rivals.

Glenn admitted that he was considering switching quarterbacks, telling reporters: 'I'm evaluating everything, to be honest with you.

'Whatever that the evaluation process come out to, just know that the reason why I make the decision that I make, it gives us the best chance to win.'
