An NFL commentator has gone viral after making a raunchy joke during a live broadcast of the Steelers' victory over the Patriots on Sunday afternoon.

During the second quarter of the game, a pass interference was called after Steelers cornerback Brandin Echols grabbed Patriots wide receiver Kayshon Boutte.

What was a seemingly normal moment of the game quickly became a viral sensation that sent fans into hysterics - thanks to the antics of NFL commentator Ian Eagle.

As a highlight played on screen, Eagle said: 'He grabbed booty'.

Boutte's last name is typically pronounced 'Boo-tay', however the commentator spun it slightly, in order to deliver the light-hearted moment.

Fighting through laughter, just seconds later, his co-commentator JJ Watt said: 'I tried, I tried to keep it together'.

An NFL commentator joked, during the live broadcast, that Echols had 'grabbed booty'

The incident went viral shortly afterwards and it's fair to say that fans were loving it

As the incident went viral on social media, fans were quick to praise the cheeky pun from the veteran commentator.

Taking to X, one fan wrote: [Laughing emojis] The Boutte jokes never get old'.

Another said: 'I thought I was only one that tried my hardest to not laugh'.

'Reason number 1,350,224 why Ian Eagle is the best in the business,' said one fan.

Boutte ended the game with two receptions for 28 yards as the Patriots fell to their second defeat of the season - following their Week 1 loss to the Raiders.

Despite the best efforts of Patriots QB Drake Maye - who completed 28 of his 37 passes and threw for 268 yards, including two touchdowns - it wasn't enough.

Aaron Rodgers, on the other hand, completed 16 out of 23 passes, threw for 139 yards and, similarly, recorded two touchdowns.

The likes of Jaylen Warren, DK Metcalf, Calvin Austin and Jonnu Smith all put in solid displays to help the Steelers move to 2-1 for the season.

Mike Vrabel and the Patriots will be hoping to get back to winning ways next weekend when they host the Carolina Panthers.
