NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell insists Nashville will finally be ready to host its first ever Super Bowl when the Tennessee Titans' new stadium is completed in 2027.
Nashville is one of the few major US cities to have never staged a Super Bowl since the inaugural 1967 showpiece took place in Los Angeles, along with the likes of Chicago, Kansas City, Pittsburgh, Seattle and more.
On Friday, the Titans held a ceremony to commemorate the topping out of their New Nissan Stadium, which is slated to open in 2027.
And Goodell, who was in attendance, was grilled about Nashville's chances of finally hosting a Super Bowl when the 60,000-seater stadium is up and running.
'Listen, it’s an important franchise, a wonderful franchise for the NFL,' he said about the Titans. 'And I know that the work that they’ve done here from the moment you’ve had the draft [in 2019] and what you did to change the trajectory of the draft — you actually took the draft and made it yours. But you did it in a way that made it incredibly impactful for the future of the NFL — and the Titans.
'And I think all of us at that moment had that wake-up moment that this is a Super Bowl-ready city. The one thing that's missing is the stage.

'I think now you're building a great stage. We have a process, but I have every expectation that you're gonna see that type of thing in the future.'
NFL fans were delighted with Goodell's comments, including one who wrote on X: 'Superbowl would be awesome in Nashville'.
'Party central,' concluded another.
'They say that every time, but this one actually feels like it could back it up. Now let’s see if the city matches the hype on game day,' said a third.
While one joked about the Titans: 'The city is ready... the team is not and won't be anytime soon'.

Tennessee governor Bill Lee penned a letter to Goodell earlier this year as part of Nashville's bid for Super Bowl LXIII.
'As Tennessee’s capital and a dynamic global hub, the city of Nashville is uniquely positioned to welcome the NFL for a memorable and successful event,' Lee’s letter said. 'Nashville is an easily accessible, top global destination with a proven track record of hosting safe and seamless large-scale events like the NFL Draft, CMA Fest and the SEC Championship.
'Football fans will no doubt enjoy Music City’s world-famous honky-tonks, live music, attractions, and restaurants. The State of Tennessee’s investment in the construction of the new Nissan Stadium reflects our commitment to hosting the world’s most anticipated sporting event.
'This thoughtfully designed state-of-the-art stadium, which will boast the closest viewing experience in football, is sure to provide an unrivaled experience to players and fans.'
