Miami Dolphins great Jason Taylor appeared to be caught in a 'Coldplay kiss cam' moment during his team's Monday Night Football showdown against the New York Jets, but all was not quite as it seemed.
ESPN cameras cut to Taylor, 51, in a VIP suite with a young woman sat on his lap who appeared to quickly get out of the shot as soon as the camera panned to him in the fourth quarter.
Fans immediately leapt onto the footage, drawing comparisons to the couple caught on camera dancing at a Coldplay show who it later emerged were having an affair.
'Jason Taylor just had his Coldplay moment,' posted the popular sports meme account, Bricks Center.
Another wrote: 'Is Jason Taylor just having his Coldplay moment?' while a different viewer said: 'Okay… who was that sitting on Jason Taylor’s lap???'
Fortunately though, there was a far more innocent explanation than what happened at that fateful Coldplay show in Massachusetts earlier this year.
Jason Taylor was seemingly caught on camera in a 'Coldplay kiss cam' moment on ESPN
Cameras cut to the NFL great in suite for the Miami Dolphins vs New York Jets NFL game
Taylor then appeared to adjust his appearance as the announcers discussed him
The woman in question was actually Taylor's wife, Monica, who appeared to just happen to moving out of the way before the cameras picked out the NFL great.
The announcers on ESPN made no reference to Monica or the seemingly unfortunate incident, simply telling viewers: 'Do you see the great Jason Taylor sitting up there in the box?'
Taylor now works as the defensive ends coach for the Miami Hurricans but had a special interest in Monday night's NFL game, given he played for both teams.
He is best known for his time with the Dolphins from 1997 until 2007 - in 2006, he was named NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
He spent one season with the Jets, in 2010, but now has a close affinity with the team after his son Mason was drafted by the organization earlier this year.
The Jets lost 27-21 on the night, with Mason recording five receptions for 65 yards as his dad watched on from the stands.
The Jets are yet to record a win so far in this campaign and are 0-4 with the Dallas Cowboys up next on Sunday at MetLife Stadium.
The woman in question was actually Taylor's wife Monica - they've been married since 2020
Together, Monica and Jason have a son together and he is now a coach at Miami Hurricanes
But the moment drew comparisons to the viral couple at the Coldplay show earlier this year
Away from the field, Taylor was first married to ex-wife Katina, who is the mother of Mason and two other kids.
After they divorced in 2015, Taylor got engaged to Monica in 2019 and they got married a year later. They have a one child, a boy, together - he was born in August 2021.
Taylor is also the sister of talkshow host Joy Taylor, who controversially left Fox Sports earlier in the year.
