After a video of a confrontation between a fan and an NFL player went viral, the athlete in question is clarifying what happened between the two of them.

The video showed a Washington Commanders fan seemingly yelling at Detroit Lions long snapper Hogan Hatten.

Later, the Commanders fan jumped over the railing and down onto the field - before being almost instantly tackled by security and dragged away.

Hatten took to social media after the video made the rounds to share his side of the story.

'The video going around suggesting I was arguing with a Commanders fan before he rushed the field is inaccurate. I did not speak to that person at all during the game,' he posted to his Instagram Story.

'I struck up a fun conversation with a young fan, who you can't see sitting in front of him in the front row, and ended up giving him a ball after the game!' Hatten posted.

Detroit Lions long snapper Hogan Hatten says he wasn't badmouthing a Commanders fan

The same fan was later seen running onto the field before being tackled by security

The person who recorded the video claimed Hatten was was badmouthing the fan, leading to the field rush.

It's not clear if there was any further punishment against the field stormer. However, it wasn't the only shocking moment of the evening.

After the Commanders defense gave up a touchdown run to Detroit running back Jahmyr Gibbs, frustrated Washington players lashed out.

Commanders defensive tackle, Daron Payne senselessly slapped Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown in the face - seemingly unprovoked - leading to players on both teams clashing.

As Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff was face-to-face with a Washington counterpart, defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw was standing nearby.

Umpire Brandon Cruse was holding Kinlaw at arms-length to separate him from the others.

Cruse then appeared to lightly shove Kinlaw back away from Goff, leading Kinlaw to retaliate. Kinlaw shoved Cruse back - with his hand extending and hitting Cruse on his hat.

While Payne was ejected for his senseless slap, Kinlaw was hit with a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
