TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Secretary General of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle, Hasto Kristiyanto is accused of bribing the former KPU Commissioner, Wahyu Setiawan, in order to secure Harun Masiku as a Replacement Legislative Candidate for the 2019-2024 DPR period.
Public Prosecutor of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Wawan Yunarwanto, mentioned that Hasto, along with Donny Tri Istiqomah, Saeful Bahri, and Harun Masiku, bribed Wahyu Setiawan.
During the reading of the indictment in the initial trial, the Prosecution disclosed that the bribe amount totaled 57,350 Singapore dollars or approximately Rp600 million.
In addition to the bribery charges, the prosecutors also accused Hasto Kristiyanto of obstructing the investigation of corruption cases involving Harun Masiku.
This obstruction was carried out by instructing Harun Masiku, through the caretaker of the Aspiration House, Nur Hasan, to submerge Harun's mobile phone in water after Wahyu Setiawan was arrested by the KPK.
"Hasto also instructed his aide, Kusnadi, to submerge the mobile phone in anticipation of coercive efforts by the KPK investigators," said Wawan during the reading of the indictment at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Friday, March 14, 2025.
Therefore, the Prosecution stated that Hasto is liable to penalties as stipulated in Article 21 and Article 5 Paragraph (1) letter a or Article 13 of the Law on the Eradication of Corruption, in conjunction with Article 65 Paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code and Article 55 Paragraph (1) jo. Article 64 Paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.
The prosecutor revealed that the case began when the KPK officials, on January 8, 2020, received information about communications between Wahyu and former convict in the bribery case involving Replacement Legislative Candidate, Harun Masiku, Agustiani Tio Fridelina, who conveyed the receipt of money.
The money recipient is suspected to be related to the plan to appoint Harun as a Member of the 2019-2024 The House of Representatives (DPR), so the KPK officials began monitoring the movements of the parties involved, namely Wahyu, Harun, Saeful, Donny, and Agustiani.
Some time later, the KPK officials successfully apprehended Wahyu at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang. At around 18:19 WIB, Hasto received information that Wahyu had been apprehended by the KPK officials.
Subsequently, Hasto, through Nur Hasan, instructed Harun Masiku to submerge his mobile phone in water and instructed Harun to wait at the PDI Perjuangan DPP Office with the aim of concealing his whereabouts from the KPK officials.
In addition to Harun's mobile phone, the Prosecution mentioned that Hasto is also suspected of instructing Kusnadi to submerge his own mobile phone on June 6, 2024, in anticipation of coercive efforts by the KPK regarding the summons for Hasto to be a witness in Harun Masiku's case on June 4, 2024.
