TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Indonesian Trade Union Confederation (KSPI) president, Said Iqbal, said workers are planning to stage a protest in Jakarta tomorrow to express disappointment over the Pertamina corruption case.

Workers also plan to demand resolution on mass layoffs in the country. “Workers threaten to stage a massive rally in response to the Pertamina Patra Niaga corruption and the threat of layoffs in the real sector," said Iqbal in a written statement.

"Tomorrow, on Friday, February 28, 2025, approximately 500 workers will stage a protest at the Attorney General's Office," he added.

He stated that throughout 2024, hundreds of thousands of textile and garment workers had already been laid off and became unemployed. At the beginning of 2025, almost a thousand employees of Sanken Indonesia were laid off due to the closing of their factory.

"More than a thousand Yamaha Music workers were also laid off because their factory was relocated to China. Hundreds of workers at PT Tokay Bekasi were also terminated. Thousands of workers in the automotive industry, especially in truck and dump truck factories, are potentially facing layoffs due to the growing uncontrolled truck imports from China," he said.

Meanwhile, the Attorney General’s Office recently named 9 suspects in a corruption case involving the crude oil and refinery products management at PT Pertamine during the years 2018 to 2023. The state loss incurred in this case is estimated to be Rp193.7 trillion.

The Director of Investigation at the Deputy Attorney General's Office for Special Criminal Acts (Jampidsus) at the Attorney General's Office, Abdul Qohar, stated that six of the nine suspects were executives in Pertamina's subsidiaries.

They are the Director of the Central Marketing and Trading of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Maya Kusmaya; VP of Trading Operations at PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Edward Corne; President Director of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Riva Siahaan, Director of Feedstock and Product Optimization at PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional, Sani Dinar Saifuddin.

Then the President Director of PT Pertamina International Shipping Yoki Firnandi, and VP Feedstock Management of PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional Agus Purwono.

Meanwhile, the other three suspects are from the private sector. They are Muhammad Kerry Andrianto Riza (MKAR) as the beneficial owner of PT Navigator Khatulistiwa, Dimas Werhaspati (DW) as a Commissioner of PT Navigator Khatulistiwa and also a Commissioner of PT Jenggala Maritim, and Gading Ramadhan Joedo (GRJ) as a Commissioner of PT Jenggala Maritim and President Director of PT Orbit Terminal Merak.
