TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, appointed Insp. Gen. Anwar—the National Police Assistant for Human Resources—to lead the team overseeing food security. Tempo received Anwar’s written responses regarding the police’s various roles in food affairs on Sunday evening, March 15, 2026.
Anwar explained that the police’s involvement in the food security program initiated by President Prabowo Subianto is one manifestation of maintaining public security and order while providing services to the community. “The duties of the National Police are not limited to law enforcement,” he said.
Anwar said the police support the work of the Ministry of Agriculture, which has agricultural resources such as seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and farming machinery. He claimed that the role positions the police as a bridge linking farmers, business partners, cooperatives, and banks.

The National Police Headquarters issued instructions to regional food-security task forces to help meet the government’s corn reserve targets. The directive is stated in a telegram from the National Police Chief dated April 16, 2025, and in a letter from the Police Chief dated June 23, 2025.
