TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A South Tangerang Police officer's alleged arrogant behavior, including being drunk and extorting street vendors, has gone viral on social media platforms. The incident reportedly took place in the Setu District, South Tangerang.
A photo showing a police officer drinking from a bottle suspected to contain alcohol posted on the @portalsulsel social media account has rapidly gained attention.
The caption on the post claims that Chief Brigadier (Bripka) Iwan Lombu, a member of the Pamulang Police, was involved in the extortion on February 26, 2025. This situation has understandably caused concern among local street vendors.
When reached for comment, South Tangerang Police spokesperson Adj. Comr. Agil confirmed that the officer is currently under investigation.
"The incident is being handled by the South Tangerang Police's Propam (Internal Affairs Division)," Agil said on Thursday, March 6, 2025.
Agil also added that the officer has been placed in a special detention cell. "The officer in question is currently being held in a special cell for intensive questioning," he stated.
He assured the public that the South Tangerang Police do not tolerate misconduct from its members. "The South Tangerang Police are committed to taking strict action in accordance with the applicable regulations. There is no room for personnel who commit violations," Agil concluded.
