TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and President of Turkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, exchanged gifts at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
This exchange took place after the two leaders concluded their high-level meeting. Prabowo presented two gifts to Erdogan. The first was an SS2-V4A2 weapon, a 5.56 x 45 MM assault rifle, produced by state-owned weapons manufacturer Pindad.
The rifle was engraved with Erdogan's name as the President of Turkiye. "This is our industrial production," Prabowo explained to Erdogan.
"For me?" Erdogan asked.
"Yes, this is for you," Prabowo confirmed.
Prabowo also gifted Erdogan a Balinese Gegodohan keris, a traditional dagger, in golden yellow color.
In return, Erdogan presented Prabowo with two gifts. The first was a pair of beautiful vases, one small and one large, both white with purple and gold floral patterns.
Erdogan's second gift to Prabowo was a framed piece of art containing a poem in Arabic. The poem expressed prayer and gratitude from the Javanese people to Sultan Abdulmecid Khan and Muhammad Hasib Pasha, the Governor of Hejaz and Syakh Al-Haram.
The inscription on the gift read, "A poem of prayer and gratitude from the people of java to Sultan Abdulmecid Khan and to Muhammad Hasib Pasha, the Governor of Hejaz and Syakh Al-Haram, for ensuring the security and peace of the holy lands and the prosperity of the people with their just administration."
The gift exchange followed a bilateral meeting between the two leaders earlier that day. This meeting focused on cooperation between Indonesia and Turkiye in several areas. During the meeting, the two governments agreed on 13 collaborations, spanning fields from energy and industry to education and religious affairs.
