TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto attended a business forum in Tokyo, Japan, on Monday, March 30, 2026. The former Minister of Defense was accompanied by top officials from the Danantara Investment Management Agency as well as the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) to meet with Japanese entrepreneurs.
The agenda was part of Prabowo's visit to the Land of the Rising Sun. His presence at the business forum titled "Japan-Indonesia Business Forum" was carried out after visiting the Imperial Palace of Japan, also located in Tokyo.
"The President continued his state visit to Japan by attending the Japan-Indonesia Business Forum with members of the Cabinet and Indonesian entrepreneurs," as stated by the Presidential Secretariat on Monday, March 30, 2026.
Several officials from Danantara and Kadin who accompanied Prabowo at the forum included the Head of Danantara Rosan Perkasa Roeslani and the Chief Investment Officer of Danantara Pandu Sjahrir, as well as the Chairperson of Kadin Indonesia Anindya Bakrie.
According to the Presidential Secretariat, Indonesian and Japanese businessmen agreed on several business cooperation deals at the forum. A total of ten business cooperation agreements were reached between the two countries, valued at US$22.6 billion.
According to the Cabinet Secretariat, this cooperation is a strategic step in strengthening the economic relationship between the two countries. "It also opens up broader collaboration opportunities in various priority sectors, including industry, energy, and technology development," as stated by the Presidential Secretariat.
The event with President Prabowo was organized by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Keidanren, the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry of Japan, and Kadin Indonesia.
Prior to attending the business forum, Prabowo first visited the Imperial Palace of Japan. Prabowo met with Emperor Naruhito and Crown Prince Fumihito of Japan.
Prabowo's meeting with the Japanese imperial family was part of his trip to Japan. According to the Presidential Secretariat, Prabowo was personally welcomed by Emperor Naruhito as he stepped out of the vehicle upon arriving at the Imperial Palace.
Emperor Naruhito then walked with President Prabowo to the Take-no-Ma room or the imperial audience hall. The two heads of state then had a photo session followed by a one-on-one meeting.
