TEMPOC.O, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto met with the Chair of the National Economic Council (DEN) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan and other DEN members on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that the meeting addressed the impact of the conflict in West Asia on the global economy and Indonesia.
The West Asia region heated up after the United States and Israel's military attacked Iran on February 28, 2026. Iran then launched a retaliatory attack on Israel and its neighboring countries from U.S. military bases.
"President Prabowo received the Chair and Members of the National Economic Council (DEN) along with several related ministers to discuss global economic developments, including the potential impact of the escalation of the Middle East conflict on the global and Indonesian economy, in Jakarta," said Teddy in a written statement on Thursday, March 12, 2026.
Teddy mentioned that the meeting also discussed the national energy supply situation after the escalation of the conflict. He says that the domestic energy supply is still safe. The government also ensures the availability of national oil and gas supplies to meet national needs.
"It was conveyed in the meeting that the national supply of oil and gas is in sufficient condition," said Teddy. "The government will continue to monitor the global energy price developments and prepare mitigation measures to ensure that its impact on the State Budget remains controlled."
Aside from energy matters, Prabowo also discussed strategic steps to strengthen national economic resilience in the meeting. Teddy stated that Prabowo emphasized accelerating energy self-sufficiency programs to reduce dependence on global energy supplies.
"The President also emphasized the importance of expediting energy self-sufficiency and strengthening government digitalization, including through a pilot program for digitalized social aid distribution, to improve state expenditure efficiency," he said.
According to Teddy, Prabowo urged all government officials to enhance vigilance against global dynamics. Anticipation and policy readiness are considered crucial to maintain national economic stability amid a world full of uncertainties.
"The President urged all government officials to continue anticipating global situation developments and ensure that national economic stability remains intact," said Teddy.
