TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto extends his foreign tour to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, after his most recent visit to the United Kingdom.
"I will head to the Emirates, Abu Dhabi, to be received on the 23rd. I’ll already be in Jakarta on the 24th,” said Prabowo in a press release in London on November 21, 2024, as quoted from the Presidential Secretariat video.
Prabowo did not elaborate on his plans in the United Arab Emirates. He said many things will be discussed during his visit.
Initially, the UK was the last country to visit in Prabowo’s series of foreign visits, after China, the United States, Peru for the APEC Summit, and Brazil for the G20 Summit.
Former son-in-law of Indonesian 2nd President Soeharto plans to return on November 23, 2024. However, Prabowo mentioned the possibility of visiting the Middle East while delivering a press statement in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Sunday, November 17.
In a press release in London, Prabowo said his visit to the five countries exceeded the target, receiving investment commitments worth US$18.5 billion, or around Rp294.5 trillion (at an exchange rate of Rp 15,897).
Prabowo said around US$8.5 billion or Rp135 trillion of said investments came from the CEO Roundtable Forum held at Lancaster House, London, UK, on Thursday, November 21.
"I think this showcases their optimism towards our economy," said Prabowo.
