TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto led a limited meeting with the economic ministerial staff and other relevant agencies in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Thursday, September 18, 2025.
In the photo shared by the Presidential Secretary, several ministers were present, including Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman, Investment Minister and Danantara's CEO Rosan Roeslani, and Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono,
Also present were Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Deputy Minister of Finance Thomas (Tommy) Djiwandono, and Deputy Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara. Additionally, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and Deputy Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs and Head of the North Coast (Pantura) Authority Didit Herdiawan attended the meeting.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that the meeting discussed various issues in the agriculture, energy, and infrastructure sectors. In the agricultural sector, the government will soon take specific policies to resolve issues related to cassava, sweet potato, and tapioca.
"The approach involves engaging local governments and industry players while taking into account farmers' welfare," said Teddy in an official statement on Thursday, September 18, 2025.
In the energy sector, the meeting focused on the ethanol import mechanism and molasses production. The president and his aides also discuss rural electricity by leveraging solar energy, for which Prabowo ordered Danantara to create a prototype.
"This prototype will be built in several regions and is targeted to be operational within 3-5 months," Teddy explained.
Prabowo also discussed funding for the construction of a giant sea wall, which he hopes will be beneficial to around 50 million residents along Java's northern coastal communities.
The Giant Sea Wall project is part of the national infrastructure development agenda that is expected to provide a long-term solution to mitigate the risk of tidal floods and land subsidence, especially in the coastal areas of Jakarta.
On Thursday, September 11, 2025, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) said the giant sea wall project remains in the investment exploration stage. The opportunity for collaboration is not only open to China but also to other countries.
"It's still under discussion, and we will enhance communication, not only with China but with various other countries," AHY said.
The government will prepare a blueprint for the construction of the seawall by combining designs from domestic sources and input from countries experienced in similar fields. However, AHY did not specify which countries have been approached and discussed the strategic project.
