TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi acknowledged that several aspects of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration still need improvement as it approaches its first anniversary in office.
Prabowo, who was inaugurated on October 20, 2024, has seen many of his government’s programs successfully implemented over the past year, Prasetyo said.
“There are numerous initiatives that, while showing progress, still require refinements. These will remain our priority for continuous improvement,” he stated at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Empowerment and Cultural Affairs office in Central Jakarta on Friday, October 17, 2025.
Prasetyo highlighted several flagship programs that he considers notable achievements. Among them is the government’s claim of having achieved food self-sufficiency. “We’ve also succeeded in implementing the nutritious meal program, which now benefits 35 million people,” he added.
He went on to mention the integration of the Single Data on Social and National Economic (DTSEN) system and the streamlining of regulations to accelerate bureaucratic processes. “We have simplified various regulations to ensure efficiency across sectors,” Prasetyo said.
Another highlight, he noted, is the free health check-up program offered to citizens on their birthdays. “Perhaps nowhere else in the world does a country provide free health screenings for all citizens on their birthdays,” he remarked.
Prasetyo also pointed to the establishment of the Danantara Investment Management Agency as a major success in the administration’s first year. “The creation of Danantara has become one of our key milestones in the investment and economic sectors,” he said.
However, not all responses to Prabowo’s first year in office have been positive. Several groups have voiced concerns and called for a more thorough evaluation of the government’s performance.
The All-Indonesia Student Executive Board (BEM SI Kerakyatan), for instance, announced plans to issue a formal statement assessing the administration’s track record.
“There are still many aspects of these programs that must be reviewed and improved,” said BEM SI Kerakyatan Media Coordinator Pasha Fazillah Afap on Monday, October 13, 2025.
