TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu'ti said the government, under Prabowo Subianto, will refurbish approximately 10,000 schools in 2025.
“We will renovate around 10,000 schools for the 2025 school year,” he said after attending a ministerial coordination meeting on Monday, December 30.
Minister Mu’ti said the schools the government plans to renovate spread throughout the country, “especially schools that have been severely damaged in natural disasters.”
The General Secretary of the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership Board said the school revitalization is part of the fast-tracked programs under President Prabowo Subianto's government. Mu'ti revealed that the budget for this program reached Rp17.1 trillion.
He said that during today’s meeting, the government agreed to transfer the authority for the school revitalization program from the Ministry of Public Works to the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Works resumes the renovation project for Madrasah Aliyah (MA), or Islamic high school institutions. Deputy Minister of Public Works Diana Kusumastuti said the budget for renovating Madrasah Aliyah in 2025 amounts to Rp2.4 trillion.
The budget, she said, is smaller than that of regular high school renovation due to the fewer numbers of Madrasah Aliyah in Indonesia. Moreover, she said, private schools renovated by the government are also included within the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education’s budget.
