TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Political Parameter Executive Director Adi Prayitno said the reshuffle ultimatum delivered by President Prabowo Subianto was a political threat to his ministers who did not work according to his wishes.
According to Adi, the reshuffle threat was Prabowo's climax against his ministers. He considered that Prabowo had given his assistants a three-month opportunity, but their performance was actually bad and detrimental to the people.
"So it is natural that the sentence conveyed in the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Harlan was a kind of political threat to his assistants, whoever they are, if in the future their performance is not according to expectations and is detrimental to the people, they will definitely be removed and will definitely be replaced," Adi Prayitno told Tempo, February 10, 2025.
In addition, Adi saw that the behavior and policies of the ministers who were actually detrimental to the people also triggered the reshuffle issue. Especially regarding the ban on selling 3-kilogram LPG gas at retail and the sea fence case in Tangerang.
"That then caused a very extraordinary public reaction and anger of course. Prabowo also saw that as something that was very worthy of evaluation," he said.
Meanwhile, political observer Hendri Satrio (Hensa) said the threat of a reshuffle was caused by the high level of dissatisfaction caused by President Prabowo's ministers.
Hensa explained that the behavior of these ministers triggered a high level of public dissatisfaction with the performance of Prabowo's government. Based on the results of a survey by the KedaiKOPI Survey Institute, 27.5 percent of the public were dissatisfied with the performance of Prabowo Subianto's government.
Hensa said that public dissatisfaction with Prabowo's government was mostly caused by the bad behavior of the ministers.
"The results of the KedaiKOPI survey showed that 27.5 percent of the public were dissatisfied with Prabowo's government over the past 100 days, and the biggest contributor was the bad behavior of the ministers," said Hensa, Sunday, February 9, 2025.
The KedaiKOPI survey institute released a 100-day opinion survey of the Prabowo-Gibran administration on February 5, 2025. This survey was conducted on January 23-29, 2025, which was exactly the 100th day of Prabowo's administration, which fell on January 28. The survey was conducted using the Online-Computerized Assisted Self Interview (CASI) method with 1201 Indonesian respondents aged 17-55 years.
In the survey, respondents gave 12 reasons why they were dissatisfied with Prabowo's performance in the 100 days since being inaugurated as president. The highest reason was the inappropriate behavior of ministers or officials, followed by economic policies that were not biased towards the people, and the absence of significant changes from the previous government.
Prabowo signaled a reshuffle while attending the peak of the 102nd Harlah commemoration of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) in Jakarta. The General Chairperson of the Gerindra Party warned that their ministers and heads of government institutions would be replaced (reshuffled) if they did not work properly.
"The people demand a clean and proper government, which works properly. So, I want to uphold that. The interests are only for the nation, the people, no other interests, those who do not want to work truly for the people, I will get rid of them," Prabowo said on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.
Prabowo emphasized that he would not tolerate state officials who played around. "We will not hesitate to act. The first 100 days, yes. I have given the term warning many times. Now, who is stubborn. Who is a dableg, who does not want to follow this big movement, with the demands of the people, a clean government, I will take action," he said.
