TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto planned to dispatch a team of technical experts to Brazil to study its advancements in modernization, agricultural technology, and renewable energy development. He highlighted Brazil's proven success in biofuel and agricultural innovation.
Prabowo unveiled the plan during a meeting with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at the Planalto Palace in Brasilia.
"President Lula and his ministers graciously accepted our request to send more technical experts to study innovation and modern technology here," Prabowo said, as quoted from a live broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel.
He noted the numerous shared interests between Indonesia and Brazil, including natural resources. He believed that strong cooperation would be mutually beneficial for both nations.
"In the agricultural sector, Brazil is at the forefront. You set a good example with the use of biofuel and innovation in agriculture and productivity, which would be beneficial for Indonesia if we learn from your experience," the former Defense Minister remarked.
Prabowo underscored the critical importance of food resilience and independence for Indonesia. He even cited Brazil's programs as a model for developing similar initiatives.
"We are very open about stating that we consider your programs as a model, and we are currently implementing the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program for children and pregnant women," Prabowo explained. He aimed for the MBG program to reach 82.9 million portions per day by December 2025.
