Premier League striker Armando Broja was reduced to tears after being taken off in a stretcher during Albania's defeat to England.

The 24-year-old, who spent five years with Chelsea before being sold to Burnley this summer, was only on the pitch for around 10 minutes before falling to the ground in agony.

With his hands on his head, the injury-plagued star looked devastated as he was surrounded by his consoling team-mates before medics rushed to take him off the pitch.

It is yet another blow for Broja, has missed more than 80 games during his career through injury or ill-health.

He was ruled out for almost a year after an ACL injury in December 2022, and his loan spells with Fulham and Everton in the following years were regularly halted due to knocks.

The Albanian international, who was born in Slough, Berkshire, moved to Turf Moor this summer but missed the first three league games of the Premier League newboys' season thanks to another injury.

Fans rushed to X to wish Broja well after the knock on Sunday evening, with some branding him the 'unluckiest man in football'.

One wrote: 'Every time Broja goes down injured I think I even feel pain at this point. The guy is so unlucky.'

Another added: 'Really sad seeing Armando Broja going off on a stretcher again. Guy can't catch a break.'

Broja initially came through Tottenham's youth ranks before moving to Chelsea, from where he was sent out on loan to Vitesse and Southampton from 2020 until 2022.

He broke into the first team at Stamford Bridge after returning from St Mary's and had started brightly before suffering the ACL injury.

The 24-year-old failed to score during his loans at Everton and Fulham, and has not yet bagged for Burnley in his short tenure at the Lancashire side.

He has six goals in 33 international apperances but was second-fiddle to Austin FC striker Myrto Uzuni on Sunday evening, starting on the bench.
