What's on your mind, Pep?

You could edit the funniest speech bubble into his picture.

I always love pictures of Pep Guardiola pre-match; he always seems like he has something on his mind.

Sadly, it never looks like a happy thought, but more like he is concerned about something.

Maybe he is wondering whether he locked the door to his house before leaving this morning. I do that all the time.

Rodri returns

Rodri back in the starting XI is such a huge boost for Manchester City but how fit is he? He featured at the Club World Cup before aggravating an issue and Pep Guardiola had intimated that the Spaniard wouldn’t be ready to start until after the international break.

Does Hurzeler have Guardiola's number?

Yes, you are reading that sub-heading correctly.

Over the years, there have not been many managers able to outsmart Pep Guardiola. Jurgen Klopp was about one of the only ones in the Premier League able to do well against him.

However, Hurzeler seems to know how to set up his teams against Guardiola's.

Pep Guardiola is winless in both of his Premier League meetings with Brighton boss Fabian Hürzeler, who was only 15 years of age when Guardiola managed his first match with Barcelona in 2008.

In Guardiola’s entire top-flight managerial league career, the only manager he’s faced three times without beating is Ronald Koeman.

Can he make it three unbeaten today?

'Potter needs time'

James Tomkins, former West Ham defender, speaking to BoyleSports:

It's still early days, and I think Graham Potter needs more time and hopefully some transfer window support before the deadline. We need to get the core of the team right, as there are a few areas that need improvement, probably requiring a couple of new players. I don't think we can get too down about it yet, it's important to stay positive.
From a player's point of view, you feel that atmosphere on the pitch, so home form is crucial. When fans get behind the team, I'm sure things will turn around pretty soon. You can't be too negative yet, it's still early days.

'Fernandes changes Potter's system'

Is this the day that Mateus Fernandes turns around West Ham’s midfield woes? Boy do they need it. The £40m signing from Southampton starts and has also allowed Potter to switch to a back four instead of the wing-back system to bring an extra man into the middle of the park.
He offers something the Hammer have been crying out for, a player who can take the ball in tight areas, carry it with purpose and create chances with slick passing. Potter said no ‘silver bullets’ in the transfer market could fix West Ham’s issues but Fernandes is their best hope of doing so. Paqueta also starts despite speculation that he wants to leave before the window closes.

Bad omens for the Hammers

You know I said that West Ham fans wouldn't be confident?

Well, not only have they been rubbish at the start of this season, but they have an awful record against Nottingham Forest.

They have lost their last three Premier League matches against Forest, having only lost two of their first 11 against them in the competition (D3 L6).

But it gets worse...

West Ham haven’t scored in any of their last four Premier League visits to the City Ground (D1 L3) – the last Hammers player to score there was Michael Hughes in September 1996.

It could be a long day for the Irons faithful.

'Strong Forest squad'

That's a strong Forest squad - and it wouldn't surprise me if there are a couple more signings tomorrow, too. All depends on how quickly the new players settle but if they do so rapidly, they'll think they can be a force. But what will Nuno's view be?

Hundred up for Haaland

He's been here that long already?

It feels like just yesterday that Erling Haaland banged in a brace in his first game for Manchester City, donning a neon and black kit at the London Stadium.

Now he is about to step out onto the pitch for the 100th time in the Premier League. Time flies, doesn't it?

Haaland has bagged 87 goals since arriving in the top flight, which is just crazy. He has already scored more goals than any other player in his first 100 games.

Meanwhile, he’s also scored more than West Brom managed in their first 100 games as a team (86).

Many more to come, I suspect.

West Ham Team News - Fernandes STARTS

There is a new kid on the block.

£40m signing Mateus Fernandes comes straight into the side after making the switch from Southampton.

Meanwhile, Mads Hermansen, Max Kilman, and Niclas Fullkrug return after being dropped for the Carabao Cup second round.

Crycensio Summerville is also back in the squad after a hamstring injury.

Nottingham Forest Team News - UNCHANGED

Nuno Espirito Santo clearly has favourites...

For the third game in a row, Nottingham Forest are unchanged. It's clear to see why - they have started well.

The new signings all remain on the bench, bar Dan Ndoye.

Brighton Team News - THREE changes

Ohh, funky graphic - I like it!

There are three different faces on it from the one that was posted last week when they played Everton.

Diego Gomez, Jack Hinshelwood and Joel Veltman all come into the team. Matt O'Riley, Yasin Ayari and Mats Wieffer all drop out.

Man City Team News - 'Big calls from Guardiola'

Big calls by Guardiola today. Ruben Dias dropped to the bench for Abdukodir Khusanov. Manuel Akanji, Ilkay Gundogan and Ederson.
All of whom could leave in the coming days – are here and on the bench, which is a major surprise. The back four – Nunes, Khusanov, Stones, Ait-Nouri – is, interesting…

Team news on it's way

Ready for a bit of team news?

Well, it's nearly here... for you guys anyway. I already have it, I just want to build some more suspense.

It's fair to say, some of the team news is rather interesting.

'No Nuno notes'

Nuno Espirito Santo is known for the brevity of his programme notes, usually limiting them to 30 words or fewer. Well, he's gone even further this season and abandoned them completely. Suspect his post-match words will be worth waiting for, though.

All going wrong at West Ham...

By Harry Bamforth

How are we feeling, Hammers?

Whether you are on your way to the City Ground right now, or have your head buried in your phone while having a cuppa in the living room, I imagine you're not that confident ahead of today's game.

Three defeats from three games, 11 goals conceded, and even |Jarrod Bowen is clashing with fans these days.

It's bleak times for West Ham, and they need things to change quickly, starting today.

If they don't, Graham Potter will be gone sooner rather than later.

Can City bounce back?

By Harry Bamforth

I think we may have got carried away at the start of the season.

Manchester City squad looked to have brushed off the disappointment from last season and started this one on fire when they battered Wolves on the opening weekend.

I even wrote that these are 'scary times' for their rivals.

Well, it seems I spoke too soon. One game doesn't tell you everything, and last week proved that. Tottenham breezed past them at the Etihad for the second season running - City never looked like scoring once they went behind.

Maybe that was because of how brilliant Spurs were, but then again, they lost at home to Bournemouth yesterday and didn't have a shot until the 55th minute. Weird league, isn't it?

City may need a bit more time than we thought, and it will be interesting to see how they react at Brighton today, considering this very fixture last season was at the start of their downfall.

Can they bounce back this time?

Big day ahead

By Harry Bamforth

'Are you ready for a good time?'

That's a question I have heard AC/DC belt out numerous times over the years on their famous track Are You Ready (what a song). So, that's what I am asking you - are you ready for a big day?

The Premier League has a tasty little menu for us today, starting at the Amex Stadium and the City Ground.

Brighton host Manchester City, who will be looking to bounce back after disappointment against Tottenham last week.

Meanwhile, West Ham travel to Nottingham Forest with their confidence on the floor. Not really the place you want to go when you have had a wretched start to the season.

Then later, we have the big one...

Anyway, that's enough of an intro - let's get cracking my people!
