Patel: 'Dominic Calvert-Lewin gets the nod up front'

Aadam Patel at Craven Cottage:

Daniel Farke makes five changes for Leeds here with Dominic Calvert-Lewin getting the nod up front. Skipper Ethan Ampadu is back too.
As for Fulham, Marco Silva makes just the one change from their controversial defeat to Chelsea with Harry Wilson coming. Wilson was of course close to moving to Leeds on deadline day so it'll be quite the story if he plays a major part today. Fulham's record signing Kevin is on the bench.

BREAKING: CEO will not be on the pitch

I realise I made it sound like Hopinkson will be getting his boots on in the last post. I can confirm that he is in civvies and will remain in the stands for the match.

New faces at St James' Park

I mentioned Woltemade earlier, but there's also a first appearance today for new CEO David Hopkinson. The Magpies' failure to fill key executive roles ahead of the summer window played a massive part in their struggles at the start of it.

They'll be hoping that today marks the start of a new, fresh period at the club.

Collomosse: 'Will we see a switch to a back three here?'

Tom Collomosse at the Hill Dickinson Stadium:

Lack of pace in that Villa side – and squad indeed. Will we see a switch to a back three here?
As the only side in the top four divisions yet to score, they need to find some potency in the attacking third. Rogers was excellent for England and needs to bring his international form back to his club.

Gunners back to winning ways

Mikel Arteta's side have opened the weekend's action with a convincing win over Nottingham Forest. The visitors never even threatened to get on the scoresheet.

I'm certainly going a bit strong here, but Arsenal have only conceded one goal so far and that was an outrageous free-kick against Liverpool.

Keep an eye on the Premier League record for goals conceded because this Gunners side could stake a claim it beat it!

Emery: 'I've watched their matches and they’re playing good football'

Unai Emery, Villa boss, pre-match:

I watched those matches, analysed those matches, and they’re playing good football. They have experienced players. It’s a club with a new stadium, and they’re excited, the supporters, the players, and the club.
It’s the Premier League and I want to play matches like this. To play in Everton with the new stadium, for me, individually as a coach, it’s a privilege to be there.

Checking in on the Cottage

I haven't mentioned the clash in west London just yet, have I? Well, here we are, Fulham welcome Leeds to Craven Cottage in another of the 3pm clashes today.

I think both sides will be fairly satisfied with the starts they've made to the term and will be hopeful of getting something today, so that should help make for a good game.

Actually, just had another look at the table and Fulham are still searching for their first win, so they'll actually be desperate to get it against the newly promoted side.

Checking in

Moyes: 'I can sense the mood around the club is different now'

David Moyes, Everton boss, matchday programme:

I can sense the mood around the club is different now than it was in January. There is a growing belief within the team and everybody inside the stadium which has helped generate a more positive feeling than when I first started.

Visitors braced for tough test

Villa come into this game in 19th! Two defeats from their opening three matches means they really need to start picking up the points.

Aston Villa team news: Martinez RETURNS

it looked difficult for Martinez to return to the Villa line-up after Emery's 'Bixot' rant ahead of their last match against Crystal Palace but after the Argentine's move to Man United never materialised, he returns to the fold here.

Collomosse: 'No surprise to see who is on the front cover of the Everton programme'

Tom Collomosse at the Hill Dickinson Stadium:

No surprise to see who is on the front cover of the Everton programme. I'm amazed Villa didn't try to bring back Grealish on loan this summer.
He'd have surely gone for it and the fact they've signed Harvey Elliott shows Emery wanted a creator. I'm fascinated to see what sort of reception he is given today

First start for big Nick!

Big money signing Nick Woltemade gets his first start this afternoon as Newcastle take on Wolves at St James' Park. After a summer of turmoil, today is a new day!

Magpies fans will be delighted to have the focus back on the football as they go in search of their first win of the season.
