New York City midfielder Justin Haak is attracting interest from English Championship clubs.
Table-topping Coventry City and Middlesbrough have checked on the versatile 24-year-old from Brooklyn as he is a free agent from next month.
Derby County and Leicester City have also discussed the midfielder, who is equally adept in the centre of defence.
Haak, who has made 35 appearances and scored once for New York City this MLS season, is expected to figure against rivals Philadelphia Union in the Eastern Conference play-off semi final on Monday.
Haak also has interest from other MLS franchises and clubs in Germany.
His contract runs out in December and there were reports that there was an option to extend but Daily Mail Sport understands that is not the case and he will seek a new challenge.

Middlesbrough are in the process of appointing Kim Hellberg as their new manager as they look to maintain momentum in the promotion race following the contentious departure of Rob Edwards to Wolves.
The 37-year old Swede has agreed to leave Hammarby to take up the challenge and Boro are ironing out compensation of around £250,000.
Hellberg had been in London last week having discussions with the Swansea City until Boro firmed up their interest. Owner Steve Gibson will also look to be creative in the January market to help his new boss, hence the likes of Haak being on their radar
Adi Viveash is expected to take charge of Boro against Oxford United at the weekend.
Swansea, meanwhile, are talking to former Liverpool coach Vitor Matos over their managerial vacancy.
