TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Ragunan Wildlife Park Public Relations Manager Wahyudi Bambang recorded that 394,000 tourists visited Ragunan Zoo during the Christmas and New Year holidays. He predicted that the number would increase to 500,000 people by the end of this week.
"We found that the average number of visitors to Ragunan Wildlife Park was 43,000 people," he said when contacted by Tempo on Thursday, January 2, 2025.
Wahyudi said that the peak of the tourist area's crowds occurred right on New Year's day, January 1, 2025 with 120,585 visitors. Based on his data, Wahyudi detailed that at the peak of the crowd, 115,879 visitors bought tickets directly, while 4,706 bought tickets online. There were 83 visitors on bicycles, 13,344 on motorcycles, 5,621 on cars and 42 on buses.
To anticipate the density of visitors during the Christmas and New Year holiday, Ragunan Zoo management has prepared facilities. Among others was the expansion of parking lots to accommodate 5,700 four-wheeled vehicles (cars) and two-wheeled vehicles (motorcycles) to accommodate about 14,000 vehicles.
In addition, Wahyudi said, his office also deployed personnel on duty in Christmas and New Year holiday services consisting of 128 officials, 569 personnel of Individual Other Service Providers (PJLP), and 150 support personnel (incidental).
"For security, apart from the internal officers, we are also strengthened with assistance from the TNI (military), National Police, and other related agencies," he said.
Previously, yhe Jakarta provincial government has prepared 1,500 members of the Civil Service Police Unit or Satpol PP to guard various crowded areas in Jakarta. In addition, 2,700 personnel from the Jakarta Transportation Agency are involved in Christmas and New Year security operations. The provincial government has also prepared medical personnel and ambulances at various locations.
"God willing, the security of Christmas 2024 and New Year's celebrations in Jakarta will be smooth, peaceful and without problems," said Acting Jakarta Governor Teguh Setyabudi in his written statement on Friday, December 20, 2024.
Based on a survey by the Ministry of Transportation, the potential for public movement during Christmas and New Year is estimated to reach 110.67 million people. This number increased by 2.83 percent or 3.04 million people compared to last year. Therefore, the Jakarta government has prepared traffic operations and security at several points to support the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
