TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The young Indonesian pair Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin showed maturity in their game as they eliminated fellow Indonesian representatives and fifth seeds, Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani, to advance to the final of the BWF World Tour Super 500 Daihatsu Indonesia Masters 2026.

In the semifinal match at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, on Saturday, January 24, 2026, Raymond/Joaquin won in straight games with scores of 21-19, 21-14. This victory also served as a form of redemption after their loss to Sabar/Reza in a previous encounter at the Malaysia Open 2026.

The first game was closely contested. Sabar/Reza displayed aggression from the beginning, taking the lead until the interval at 11-7. However, Raymond/Joaquin managed to maintain their composure and slowly closed the gap. The momentum shifted when the score leveled at 15-15. Despite Sabar/Reza momentarily equalizing the score, Raymond/Joaquin was more effective in crucial points to seal the opening game.

The competition remained tight at the beginning of the second game until the score reached 8-8. After that, Raymond/Joaquin began to dominate the game, leading at the interval and displaying dominance after the break. Consecutive pressure allowed them to pull away to 17-10 before securing the victory and a spot in the final.

This result confirms Raymond/Joaquin's progress as one of Indonesia's potential young pairs. Previously, they also eliminated the senior pair Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri in the quarterfinals through a three-game match.

Raymond/Joaquin are now just one step away from claiming the title of Indonesia Masters 2026. In the final match, they will face the winner of the duel between Denmark's representatives Daniel Lundgaard/Mads Vestergaard and the fourth-seeded pair from Malaysia, Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin.

Meanwhile, the journey of Indonesia's women's doubles pair Rachel Allessya Rose/Febi Setianingrum ended in the semifinals after being defeated by the Japanese pair Arisa Igarashi/Miyu Takahashi.

Rachel/Febi conceded through a three-game match with scores of 12-21, 21-19, 13-21. In the first game, the Indonesian pair managed to equalize the game before Igarashi/Takahashi took control and led until the interval. The aggressive pressure from the Japanese pair continued until they closed the opening game.

The second game was more evenly contested. Rachel/Febi maintained consistency in their game, led at the interval, and forced a rubber game. However, in the deciding game, Igarashi/Takahashi appeared more stable and capitalized on several errors from the Indonesian representatives to secure the victory.

Previously, the Japanese pair also eliminated the Indonesian representatives Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti/Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi in the quarterfinals.
