NFL referee Adrian Hill is believed to have avoided major injury, a fresh update has revealed, after he was carted off during Thursday night's game.
Hill suffered a non-contact leg injury during the third quarter of the Buffalo Bills' loss to the Houston Texans that forced him to exit the field, leaving the officiating crew down a referee.
The officiating veteran was unable to out much weight on his left leg, sparking concerns that he had sustained an Achilles injury.
Hill, who was first hired by the NFL in 2010, was reportedly taken to hospital for an MRI scan on his leg.
However, in a positive update, Hill is believed to have avoided a major injury and his Achilles is intact, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero.
The official is expected to be out for some time but a return to the field this season has reportedly not been ruled out.

With Houston leading 20-16 in the third quarter, Hill was seen running across the end zone at NRG Stadium when he suddenly began limping.
There was no one else near Hill when he was hurt midway through a play. But he was in visible pain.
Texans trainers came on to the field and helped the official toward the sidelines. He was then carted away for treatment.
The injury left the officiating team one short for the remainder of the game. Umpire Roy Ellison moved to the referee position and was tasked with working the backfield by himself.
Hill was not the only one to suffer an injury on Monday night.
Bills fans were given a serious scare earlier in the game, when quarterback Josh Allen was hit from behind by Texans defensive end Will Anderson.
Allen was sent crashing to the turf - landing heavily on his front - and could immediately be seen writhing around in pain.
After receiving attention from the Bills medical team, the quarterback was able to walk to the sidelines. He did not miss a single offensive snap.
