DAZN will make more than £10million from Anthony Joshua's clash with Jake Paul after releasing the Brit from his exclusive contract with the promotion for a one-off fight with Netflix.
Monday afternoon saw the shock announcement that former two-time heavyweight champion Joshua will fight YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul on December 19 in Miami.
The bout at the Kaseya Center will be shown solely on Netflix with its reach set to be broadcast to millions around the world.
In June 2022, Joshua signed a lucrative deal with streaming service rivals DAZN that saw promoter Eddie Hearn negotiate a £100m deal spread over five years.
As well as that financial package, Joshua became a shareholder, special advisor and brand ambassador upon joining DAZN.
However, DAZN have agreed to release Joshua from his contract for this sole bout to fight Paul before resuming his terms with them.

While DAZN would not confirm the exact figure, Daily Mail Sport understands that in doing so they will be paid in excess of £10m - a fee greater than most world champions get as a career-high pay day alone or than what some more boxers make in total before hanging up their gloves.
This is not the first time this happened between the two streaming platforms with Katie Taylor's trilogy fight with Amanda Serrano having been broadcasted on Netflix on July 11.
Daily Mail Sport understands that DAZN will not stand in the way of their fighters if the best opportunity suits all parties.
DAZN expect Joshua's involvement with Netflix will only aid them in the long-term by enhancing his global appeal even further when he returns to fight on their platform next year.
Joshua acknowledged DAZN's stance on Monday evening with a post on social media.
Taking to X he wrote: Shoutout @DAZNboxing for letting me take this opportunity.
'I’ll be back on their platform in 2026,' signing it off with a salute emoji.
As detailed by Daily Mail Sport earlier on Monday, Joshua and Paul are set to split a £140m prize pot evenly from next month's bout.
The eight-round affair, which will be contested in three-minute rounds and with 10oz gloves, marks the first fight for Joshua, 36, since he was beaten by Daniel Dubois 14 months ago.
It will also require some drastic adjustments to the boxers' weights, with the limit being set at 245lbs. Joshua has weighed more than 250lbs in each of his last five fights, while Paul, 28, weighed around just 200lbs for his last bout in June.
