Aaron Glenn's job is reportedly safe until next season - despite the Jets beginning the new campaign with six consecutive losses.

Glenn, who was drafted as a player by New York in 1994, returned to the Jets earlier this year to launch another rebuild. But his tenure has so far brought disastrous results, with the Jets the only team in the NFL yet to win a game in the 2025 season.

New York is 0-6 and their hopes of ending the league's longest playoff drought - 15 years and counting - already appear doomed. But the Jets will not fire Glenn this season or during the next offseason, according to a new report from the Athletic.

It's claimed that team owner Woody Johnson, who has been accused of meddling in previous regimes, is largely staying out the way as Glenn builds his team.

The head coach's salary is also said to be a factor in his future. It's believed Glenn is earning more than his predecessor, Robert Saleh, who was fired midway through last season.

Saleh was reportedly earning $5million a year. Should New York fire Glenn - who reportedly signed a five-year deal with the team - they would be forced to pay him through 2029.

The Jets will look to avoid a seventh consecutive loss on Sunday, when they face the Carolina Panthers at MetLife Stadium.

But Glenn's hopes of earning a first win have been dealt a blow after the head coach revealed that star receiver Garrett Wilson is doubtful for the game with a knee issue.

There has been some fan unrest over Glenn's tenure but earlier this week, the 53-year-old said: 'You have to go through these times, you have to figure out exactly how you’re going to end up winning games and continue to press forward... and I’m not wavering from that.'

Glenn added: 'We’re not talking about the Super Bowl, we’re trying to build a foundation of making sure we win consistently — and how do you do that? You just can’t throw things out there and just have an unstable foundation and expect for things to be just right… I know everybody wants to win.

'But nobody wants to go through the hard stuff, and that’s what we’re going through right now. We’re going through the hard times to put ourselves in positions to win.'
