Tempers flared after Forest Green Rovers' 2-1 win over Southend United on Saturday when Robbie Savage was deemed to have over-celebrated his team's triumph.
The Forest Green manager could not contain himself after two late goals by Harry Whitwell and Kyle McAllister turned the game in his team's favour.
It gave Rovers only their second win against teams inside the top seven this season. A melee broke out on the field as the former Wales international leapt about in celebration and duly wound up Southend's players, staff and travelling fans.
'Robbie savage spent more time In front of the Southend fans and players than his own fans,' complained one punter on X. 'Classless advertising for a village outfit.'
Footage soon materialised of the referee ordering Savage to leave the pitch, accompanied by a steward.
'Robbie Savage's celebrations have angered Blues' players and management,' read another post. 'Savage is ushered off the pitch by the referee and a steward.'

The man himself was unrepentant, pointing to last May's play-offs heartache against the same opponents as justification. 'That meant a little bit more after last year’s play-off semi final, they took the lead undeservedly,' Savage said afterwards.
Southend eventually went through that play-off semi-final on penalties but lost against Oldham in a dramatic Wembley final.
