Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez was given his marching orders after just four minutes at Old Trafford for a ridiculous foul on Bryan Mbeumo.

Sanchez was immediately dismissed after rushing out to stop the Manchester United striker and wiping him out, leaving manager Enzo Maresca aghast on the bench.

It was a nightmare start and within 10 minutes of the controversy, Ruben Fernandes had put United ahead to punish them.

For the sending-off, Mbeumo had ghosted in behind the defence to meet an onwards header from Benjamin Sesko and with nobody challenging him, Sanchez came rushing out.

But the 27-year-old completely miscued his challenge, missed the ball completely and crashing into Mbeumo's leg to send him sprawling.

The Blues were forced into two early changes as Filip Jorgensen came on in net while wonderkid Estevao Willian was sacrificed for an extra defender in Tosin Adarabioyo, but that didn't stop United drawing first blood early on.

More to follow.
