TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Samsung is reportedly designing a 360-degree foldable screen. This product is expected to break the visibility limit of current foldable phones.
The design is intended to provide the best protection and user flexibility. As cited from the Atlyginimo Skaiciuokle site on Thursday, April 3, 2025, Samsung's new patent addresses this issue by introducing a foldable screen that can rotate 360 degrees, to fully unfold without damage.
The site has leaked a rendered image or design of Samsung's 360-degree foldable screen phone. The phone is designed to have three cameras and one flash arranged vertically.
Although there are three cameras, Samsung's design seems to make every side of the phone look like a screen. However, the screen may collide with the protruding camera when the screen is folded up to 360 degrees.
As an alternative, the rendered image shows the possibility that Samsung will not cut the screen to follow the camera's boundary. To make it visible, the leaked design shows a part of the screen without a camera being partially cut around 20 or 30 percent, to close perfectly without hitting the camera.
The Atlyginimo Skaiciuokle site wrote that under the flexible screen, there is a support layer consisting of the first and second plates that are designed and combined with an adhesive layer.
According to the site, this phone is expected to use a flexible and durable OLED panel, as the construction uses ultra-thin glass and flexible polymer substrates. The site stated that different axes for different folds minimize tension, thus increasing the device's lifespan.
As is known, many brands are selling various sizes of foldable phones. Samsung itself sells the Flip and Fold series as its foldable phone variants.
Not only dual-screen foldable phones, but even brands like Huawei have recently introduced a three-screen foldable phone called the Huawei Mate X. However, in the current foldable phone market, there has yet to be an official breakthrough in innovation by creating a 360-degree foldable screen.
