Savannah Bananas send sold-out 40,000-crowd wild by recreating viral 'Phillies Karen' moment... with a twist

The Savannah Bananas have re-created the viral 'Phillies Karen' moment from over the weekend when an irascible fan screamed at a father and son until she was given a home run ball.

On Saturday, the fan believed she was entitled to the ball because it landed near her, despite the fact that another Phillies fan - Drew Feltwell - won the mad scramble for the souvenir and gave it to his son, Lincoln.

Since then, internet sleuths have been trying to track down the latest villain on sports social media with her Grinch-like behavior attracting visceral reactions from fans around the country.

In speaking of 'the Grinch', that's exactly the direction the Bananas took for a skit when playing one of their popular exhibition matches at Petco Park in San Diego.

A player tossed a ball into the stands and a 'fan' raced over to pick up the ball, gave it to his 'friend' and hugged him.

Seconds later, someone dressed up as the Dr. Seuss character raced up to them and began 'screaming' at them for the ball.

The scene of a 'Karen' Phillies fan taking a home run ball from a kid has angered the internet

The 'fan' that grabbed it imitated Drew Feltwell's mannerisms by taking the ball out of his 'friend's' glove, giving it to the Grinch, and then dismissively waving his arm.

Spectators were heard roaring with laughter and booing the Grinch after running off with the ball.

The original incident from the weekend has sparked scorn for the 'Karen' fan from all corners of the internet.

However, Lincoln was at least done-right by the Phillies and their hosts that night, the Miami Marlins.

A woman from the Marlins came over after the incident and said the 'Karen's' behavior was 'not okay' and gave him a gift bag with other home run balls, a jersey, and other goodies.

Later in the evening, the Phillies invited Lincoln, Drew, the rest his family, and other fans who saw what happened to their tunnel where they met with Phillies outfielder Harrison Bader, who hit the home run ball which sparked the incident.

The outfielder even gave the birthday boy a signed bat and took pictures with everyone.

The person who recorded the video of the Marlins worker delivering the goodie bag said that the woman fan, 'said the ball landed in her seat [and that] it was hers.

Sure cause I’m next to the family marlins made it right and came to the kid and his pops not only that other HR balls hit were given to the kid after the fact. pic.twitter.com/2X6wfiGlWa

After the kid had the ball taken from him, he received a gift bag from the Marlins organization and later met Phillies star outfielder Harrison Bader - who gave him a signed bat

The witness continued: 'the dad of the year in question simply responded “you have to catch it to be yours” to which a Karen-esque meltdown ensued.'

When asked about what happened to the fan, the witness said, 'Lmaoo we boo’d her till her and her completely embarrassed significant other left.'

Meanwhile, Phillies fans were irate at the woman fan's behavior, with multiple negative reactions on social media.

'That guy did nothing wrong and should have told that woman to step off,' said one user on X.

Another wrote, 'Lady was 5 seconds from asking to talk to a manager. F***ing nonsense he gave that up.'

'What is wrong with that lady? She is a disgrace,' another said.

The family has since given their version of events about the story that has captivated people across the United States for all the wrong reasons.

'I wasn’t very happy that we had to give it to her, but we can’t win,' Lincoln sadly told NBC 10 Philadelphia. 'She was going to get it anyways.'

He added, 'I'm happy I got to get something else. It was very, very fun getting to meet Bader.'

Meanwhile, Drew said he gave the woman the ball to get her to 'go away' as he hoped to be a role model for Lincoln.

However, he says he doesn't want the woman's life to be 'ruined' by the incident.

'She brought that on herself,' Drew said. 'I don't want her life ruined but she brought that on. She's going to pay for that and it is not by hand. I don't wish any harm on her. Maybe she was in the moment. I'm not going to defend her.'

As for what was going through his head during the confrontation, Drew explained: 'Just trying to set an example of how to de-escalate a situation in front of my son, I guess,' he told the network.
