SiOra App Launched for Komodo National Park Visitors

2 weeks ago 26

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Ministry of Forestry (Kemenhut) launched the SiOra app for visitors to the Komodo National Park in West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, on Monday, July 7, 2025. Head of Public Relations and Foreign Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Forestry, Krisdianto, stated that the service includes visit reservations (on e-ticketing), zoning navigation, information about tourist objects in the tourist area available in 40 languages, and the Conservation Area Entry Permit, or the Surat Ijin Masuk Kawasan Konservasi (SIMAKSI) licensing service.

"On Android, this application can be downloaded at Siora.id, while on iOS it can be downloaded from the App Store," he said in a written statement, a day after the launch of SiOra.

According to Krisdianto, SiOra is designed to meet the needs, improve service quality, and increase internal management efficiency. This service is also targeted to be able to organize tourist activity management, public services, as well as make area management more efficient.

The development of SiOra is in line with the mandate of the Memorandum of Directorate General of Natural Resources and Ecosystem Conservation No.M.2/KSA.3/1/2025, which requires all Conservation Task Force Units to implement a non-cash system. This change is claimed to be a reform in the management of non-tax state revenue (PNBP) to be accountable, efficient, and minimizes the risk of embezzlement.

Payments in the SiOra application can be made through the virtual account BRIVA owned by Bank BRI, bank transfers, and digital wallets (such as DANA, Flip, and Shopee Pay). Unfortunately, this digital facility does not yet serve international transactions for foreign tourists. "However, the high number of foreign visitors demands a process that provides credit card payments," said Krisdianto.

To anticipate network difficulties, the Komodo National Park Office encourages reservations to be made at least one day before the visit. There is a self-service reservation that can be accessed through the Komodo Visitor Centre around the national park, as well as through the Labuan Bajo Port Security and Safety Unit (KP3) terminal in East Nusa Tenggara.

Krisdianto mentioned that this application is also useful for the Komodo National Park managers, both for reporting and providing PNBP data. This system also supports verification of the number of visits, the approval process for permits, and the arrangement of content that contains area information.

The permits included in SIMAKSI cover research to media publication. "Such as research permits, photography and videography, unmanned aerial vehicle flights, expeditions, or commercial interests," he said.
