Ellis Genge will captain England against Fiji on Saturday in a side that features Marcus Smith at full-back, Fin Smith at fly-half and Tommy Freeman back on the wing.

Fresh from an autumn-opening 25-7 victory over Australia last Saturday, national head coach Steve Borthwick has ripped up his team for the Pacific Islanders.

Borthwick has made a total of seven changes from the starting XV which comfortably downed the Wallabies. With usual skipper Maro Itoje among the replacements, prop Genge leads the team.

With Freddie Steward and Tom Roebuck having failed to recover from finger and ankle injuries, Marcus Smith starts at full-back and Freeman moves back to the right wing. Freeman started the Australia game at outside centre.

Fin Smith replaces George Ford – who drops out of the matchday squad entirely – at No 10. Ollie Lawrence, Luke Cowan-Dickie, Alex Coles and Chandler Cunningham-South are the other changes at centre, hooker, lock and No 8 respectively.

'It was a pleasing start to the series against Australia last weekend and we know we'll need to take another step forward against Fiji,' said Borthwick.

Henry Pollock remains on the bench despite starring in the victory last weekend

'The focus for us this week is on improving on last weekend's performance and continuing to develop our game.

'Fiji are a dangerous team with power and quality right across the pitch. They play with physicality and skill, so we'll need to bring intensity, accuracy and discipline in everything we do.

'Playing in front of our supporters again at Allianz Stadium means a huge amount to the players and the team are determined to deliver a performance they can be proud of.'

Cunningham-South, who on Thursday confirmed he was extending his contract at Harlequins, packs down at the base of the scrum as forecast.

It means Ben Earl moves to the flank alongside Guy Pepper who retains his place from Australia.Coles steps up in place of Itoje to partner Ollie Chessum at lock.

Henry Pollock and Tom Curry remain on the bench despite starring when coming on against Australia.

Bath pair Ben Spencer and Henry Arundell are the only back-line replacements in a 6:2 bench split with Asher Opoku-Fordjour a notable inclusion as the reserve tighthead prop.
