Sydney Sweeney set social media ablaze on Tuesday night after making a shock appearance on Fox's pregame coverage of the World Series.

The Hollywood A-lister proved a jump-scare for millions watching across America when she voiced the Game 4 intro just minutes before the game began.

Sporting a Marilyn Monroe-style blonde bob and wearing a red dress, the stunning actress hyped up viewers - but many didn't enjoy what they were seeing.

'Why is Sydney Sweeney narrating my pregame hype video?' one wrote, while another added: 'Bad vibes'

Another said: 'The only thing more wooden than Sydney Sweeney's delivery of that World Series hype spot is an actual baseball bat.'

A fourth commented: 'Take Sydney Sweeney off my screen for the World Series.'

It was a predictable meltdown for many, with various posters immediately claiming that they were anticipating fury.

'Every liberal watching the World Series just lost their s*** when Sydney Sweeney showed up. Gotta love it,' one said.

Another wrote: 'Get ready for the liberal meltdown. Should be good for a laugh.'

In the surprise appearance, Sweeney talked up the game in the soft voice she has become famous for in recent years.

'Given the setting,' she began, as the camera revealed her in her red dress, 'it would be appropriate to dust the story with movie magic, right? Why not romanticize a bit?'

The camera then pans out to show Sweeney full-length, walking onto set while continuing to narrate.

'Winning... real winning, isn't polished,' she continues shortly after. 'It's earned. It's everything you can't fake. It's beautiful on its own.

'Let's just save the Hollywood for the ending. Welcome to Game 4 of the World Series on Fox.'

Sweeney has been in the headlines a lot this year, most notably causing controversy when she fronted an American Eagle ad campaign for jeans in July.

Many criticized the ad's pun about 'good jeans' and 'good genes', with some even going as far as to suggest it echoed the language of eugenics.

Sweeney was embroiled in woke backlash from her recent American Eagle denim campaign

'Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality, and even eye color,' Sydney said in the commercial. 'My jeans are blue.'

The genes/jeans wordplay caused controversy in the context of the blonde-haired, blue-eyed Sweeney with some claiming the campaign was the equivalent to 'Nazi propaganda' and veered towards white supremacy.

Columbia University lecturer Sayantani DasGupta said the campaign was 'really imbued with eugenic messaging' and that the pun couldn't be separated from the history of racial and genetic superiority narratives.

On the other side of the argument, many railed against the 'woke mob' and dismissed the furor.
