Former Australian cricket captain Michael Clarke has splashed about $20million on a sprawling six-bedroom mansion in Sydney’s blue-chip suburb of Vaucluse, just streets away from the house he already owns.
The 44-year-old has quietly snapped up the three-level family home, which sits on more than 1000 square metres and offers around 800 square metres of internal living.
Tucked behind a wide street frontage and manicured gardens, the double-brick and concrete residence comes with six bathrooms, multiple living areas and parking for two cars.
The showpiece outside is a full-sized north-facing championship tennis court, paired with a gas-heated pool and sun-drenched terraces.
Inside, the home features a grand entry hall with a circular ceiling and sculptural staircase leading to formal and casual living zones.
A Calacatta marble gourmet kitchen fitted with premium Smeg and Highland appliances anchors the main level, alongside a custom cocktail bar and integrated Sonos sound system.
Clarke’s newly purchased Vaucluse home spans three levels with expansive living spaces and more than 1000 square metres of land
On the lower level, a rumpus and media zone flows straight out to the pool and landscaped gardens, with a dedicated gym space completing the entertainer’s layout.
Upstairs, the main bedroom suite includes a generous ensuite and dressing space, while the remaining bedrooms are configured for family living and guests.
The property last sold in 2007 for $7million and was initially guided at around $25 million earlier this year before Clarke came to terms on a private treaty deal.
He is currently living just a few streets away in another Vaucluse home he bought in 2021 for $13million, and previously offloaded his former matrimonial residence with ex-wife Kyly for $12million.
Clarke’s new neighbours will include radio host Kyle Sandilands and wife Tegan, as well as former Westpac boss David Morgan and his wife, former federal minister Ros Kelly.
Away from his growing property portfolio, Clarke has named his preferred XI for the first Test in Perth and going in to bat for dumped young opener Sam Konstas.
From the 15-man squad selected, Clarke’s team lists Usman Khawaja and Jake Weatherald at the top, followed by Marnus Labuschagne at three, Steve Smith at four and Travis Head at five.
Cameron Green slots in at six as the all-rounder, with Alex Carey taking the gloves and a bowling attack of Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood and Scott Boland.

Clarke argued that specialist batting positions still matter in Test cricket and said Labuschagne must return to number three, describing him as Australia’s best in that role since Ricky Ponting.
He also backed Weatherald to open alongside Khawaja, pointing to his consistent runs on tough Sheffield Shield pitches.
But the former skipper saved his strongest comments for Konstas, insisting the youngster had been badly handled after his breakout series against India last summer.
'I also feel for Sam Konstas who, after showing everyone the talent he has against a top Indian bowling attack last summer, missed out on the opportunity to open the batting in Sri Lanka straight after, where I think he would have done really well,' Clarke wrote in his News Corp column.
'Additionally, playing him in the World Test Championship Final at Lord’s would have given him even more heavy-duty Test cricket experience in preparation for this Ashes series.'
